I was recently reminded by my web hosting service that it has been slightly over 10 years since I started this little blog. How time flies! Thank you for subscribing. Please join us on Facebook or on Twitter if you haven’t already.
I had been writing occasional newsletter articles for the churches I was serving to help my musicians and church members gain a deeper understanding of sacred music and the hymns and songs that they sang. I decided to learn how to put some of these articles online so others could benefit from them too. After studying the Bible and what Martin Luther (1483-1546) and his musical colleague Johann Walter (1496-1570) say about music, what they call “The Eternal Art,” I began referring to sacred music as The Eternal Song since it began at the creation of the world and will continue eternally. Visit Robin Leaver on “The Eternal Song” to see what he has to say about the topic. I developed a simple logo (above) and chose for my tagline “Join the Eternal Song,” a phrase that could either be an invitation or an imperative phrase and is intended to be both. Over the course of 10 years I’ve put up 100 blogs which have had over 50,000 views. Below are the top 20 blogs from the past 10 years:
